Dye the mask, don’t paint it. It won’t chip or peel and it can be reformed if you get a wet again.

That looks to be a tooling leather which is PHENOMENAL for making masks. I made one for a character from a game I like using tooling leather by cutting out the leather then molding it to my face after. Fieblings leather dye to color it and Fieblings Acrylic Resolene to seal!! Good luck I’m sure you’ll look great!!
