Do DoorDash people know that I the customer can add a tip once my order is delivered? If my order comes fine and is warm and hot a fresh I have no problems adding a tip but until I get my order why would I tip a ton idk how I’m getting it. Especially with these ones who wanna double dash and let my order get cold.

FYI, I just found out that when you do a double dash and DoorDash decides to split the order between two drivers, the tip only goes to the first driver who picks up the order. The second driver gets nothing. I had to argue with DoorDash to split the tip between both drivers so it's not always the customers fault that you don't get a tip

As a customer, I look at tips as payment for service rendered. I don’t go to a restaurant and pretip before I have ordered or anything has been brought to the table. I always tip something because I know the dasher will at least be driving from the establishment to my house. But I will almost always add more and how much depends on the rest. Did they forget the drink? Did they toss my food around? No extra. Did they bring all my items? Did they have to stay at the establishment for a while holding them back from making other deliveries and still get it to me. Additional tip added. My only exception to adding additional is when the place is very close (like Starbucks and I can’t get away from work). DoorDash will recommend a $2 tip. I always tip $5 minimum. Probably won’t add more unless it’s really unusual circumstances because they are quick trips. I’ve got to think many customers are like this and will add more tip. We are tired of not getting our drinks but having already paid the tip for a service not rendered. And yes, DoorDash will reimburse (sometimes, don’t get me started). But sometimes that Horchata is the main reason I picked that place 😂. So, go ahead and throw the food. You keep your $2 and I keep my other $5-$10.

You can't react to a tip you haven't seen yet — the total only shows after completion. Same placement, same care, every order is the standard that holds up. When the drop spot in the instructions is awkward, what's your move?
