As someone who has done and continues to do sex work, I find it incredibly frustrating how much of this conversation is purely rhetorical. People are making sweeping declarations about our autonomy, motivations, and capacity to consent without actually engaging with us as people. Consent is not something a client purchases and owns. I can negotiate boundaries, agree to specific services, refuse requests, and withdraw consent regardless of whether money has changed hands. Payment does not entitle anyone to unrestricted access to my body. And I'm tired of the assumption that sex workers must be unwilling victims to deserve support. Some people do sex work out of necessity, some genuinely enjoy it, and many have complicated relationships with their work. None of those experiences invalidate the others. If your concern is exploitation, then let's talk about decriminalization, labor protections, and the material conditions that make sex workers vulnerable. But insisting that we cannot meaningfully consent or understand our own experiences isn't solidarity. It's paternalism.

Just because our fashion comes from sex workers doesn’t mean we have to support sex work. Sex work, single-handedly uphold patriarchal values puts prices on women’s bodies, has them changing their bodies in order to cater to the male gaze. It reinforces the fact that consent can be thought and that you can pretty much abuse these girls if you pay them. Also, about 30% of sex workers every year get trafficked. It’s time to understand that sex work isn’t something to be all airy and OK about

It’s also the kind of content they’re making, a lot of it can be argued to be predatory content the overly put on baby voices, the scenarios in high schools, the target audience of the content being vastly teen boys, theirs also a disregard of consent being displayed by a few of them, and then they slap a goth aesthetic on it like of course we’re pissed!
