I never understood why Theranos needed to be a thing. Current blood testing methods work just fine. The only people who needed to have a one drop testing protocol are people who are frightened of needles. I can’t imagine that that’s a large part of the population. I have had up to nine vials of blood taken from one stick. A tiny pinprick that lasted literally less than a second, and maybe three minutes for the blood to be drawn. I just close my eyes and don’t look at it and I’m fine.

My boyfriend didn’t understand it until they explained it. So i do not think its impossible. English is not his first language but he is very fluent. So….i wouldn’t assume.

While I was watching the scene, I was buying it (or I at least was entertaining the possibility that her particular neuroatypicality might show up this way). Only later did I think, “Oh, wait! MAYBE SHE’S FAKING!” Which of course is a freaking obvious point—and I swear I’m not a dumb person. I think this kind of viewer experience (being manipulated when we shouldn’t be, doubting the obvious, feeling unsure of truth vs lies) reflects much of what the film is about. I think it’s a brilliant piece of work.

I’m sorry I disagree I think she was pretending not to understand why it’s funny when really she doesn’t get it but she doesn’t want us to know she doesn’t get it so she play acts as though she doesn’t - like you said - the I’m just a girl but really she don’t get it. She doesn’t know why the joke is funny. She knows what is happening in the joke but she really doesn’t find it funny. So yes on a level she is lying but she doesn’t get what Nathan is truly trying to say. But -maybe I would have invested - except I’m poor so who knows [Victory]
