@japdmedia26: New York City, New York, USA 🇺🇸 — Federal Voter Checks Raise Concerns Ahead of Midterms Federal agents have reportedly been visiting homes in several U.S. states, asking residents about their immigration status and voting history, according to CBS News. The reports have raised concerns about possible voter intimidation ahead of the November 3, 2026, midterm elections. The Department of Homeland Security says it is investigating suspected voter fraud. Federal prosecutors have announced cases involving noncitizens accused of illegally registering or voting. Those accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty. CBS News reported that 156 people had faced voter-fraud-related charges since the beginning of the Trump administration, compared with approximately 227 million registered voters nationwide. Immigration advocates and New York City officials fear that armed doorstep visits could discourage eligible voters from participating in elections. Public Advocate Jumaane Williams warned that intimidation concerns could increase as Election Day approaches. Advocacy groups have also questioned whether the federal approach could frighten immigrant communities. DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin has defended enforcement efforts, saying the government is protecting the right of American citizens to elect their leaders. What remains important: Federal investigations into suspected voting violations are documented, but allegations of widespread noncitizen voting should not be confused with proven cases. Concerns about intimidation also deserve careful examination based on verified evidence.
