have you ever had to take a steroid as an adult? prednisone also taste terrible if it dissolves a tiny bit in your mouth before you swallow it. I think it is a steroid thing 😅

Our pharmacist told us to mix steroids with chocolate syrup. That’s about the only thing that helped. And our steroids were flavored too but the flavor doesn’t help unfortunately. 😅

My pediatrician told me to mix a little bit of the squeezable drink mixed is the syringe with it to help mask the flavor!!! Hope it helps!!! Those steroids are the worst!

Girl, ugh. My husband just got over pneumonia and the cough-til-you-pukes. It’s so much easier to deal with in an adult who can just accept the medicine is gonna taste like poop and get it down at least. ❤️🩹 I hope this is it for the year. Not like, “til January 1, tee hee” like those kids better give you a break from being sick til after Halloween 2027. 🤞 For the kiddo who is old enough, one thing he really liked was the new line of ricola drops that have a hint of salt (he liked the lemon lime mint and salt, but there are several flavors) and since they’re lightly salty it kept him drinking (half the dang battle.)

PICU nurse 👋🏻 It’s better to take the tablets and crush them with a TINY amount of chocolate syrup or apple juice that the liquid. Also the IV version (which is a tiny bit of liquid) can be given orally too so it’s way less than trying to give them the whole 5ml 😩

Honestly we had croup so many times I ended up giving it on the porch because they’d ALWAYS projectile vomit that shit up 😭

Side note I had the same thing with pneumonia. Finished my antibiotics/steroids. Still coughing. It was awful. Ended up getting a fever and high heart rate and got admitted to the hospital to get iv antibiotics and steroids. Lovely 🙄 good luck. This all started in the middle of September too. (All X-rays were clean too….caught it on ct.)

when my oldest had croup and they gave her steroids I would always taste it and show her see it tastes good yea when they junk touched my tongue there was no hiding how bad it was!!

When I did my paramedic school clinicals in a pediatric ER, we had cherry flavoring that we would mix with the injectable decadron and the kids would take it by mouth just fine. idk if a pharmacy would give you some??
