Some crimes are so horrific that you struggle to comprehend how another human being could be capable of committing them. Virgil Travis Gilliam, 53, of Trenton, Georgia, was convicted on October 20, 2026, of NINE felony counts involving the sexual abuse of two children. And what investigators uncovered about his past is absolutely sickening. 💔 THE FOUR-YEAR-OLD VICTIM According to evidence presented during his trial, Gilliam raped and sexually assaulted a little girl who was just FOUR YEARS OLD. But the abuse didn’t stop there. Prosecutors said Gilliam actually transported this innocent child to other men’s homes, where he forced her to perform sexual acts in exchange for MONEY. A FOUR-YEAR-OLD BABY! A child who should have been playing with dolls, watching cartoons, and enjoying her childhood was instead being subjected to unimaginable horrors. The abuse came to light years later when the victim disclosed what had happened to Dade County Sheriff’s Investigator Chris Gravitt. A forensic interview revealed extensive sexual and physical abuse. A subsequent medical examination documented injuries consistent with her disclosures. 💔 A SECOND VICTIM During the investigation, authorities identified another victim who had been sexually assaulted by Gilliam when she was just 15 years old. But investigators weren’t finished uncovering his past. ‼️ THE 1995 INCIDENT — A 13-YEAR-OLD CHILD Evidence presented at trial revealed that in 1995, when Gilliam was 22 years old, he impregnated a THIRTEEN-YEAR-OLD GIRL in Dade County, Georgia. According to prosecutors, he married that child just three months before she gave birth. Let that sink in. A 22-year-old grown man impregnated a 13-year-old child, and they were married before she delivered his baby. He was never arrested or formally charged in connection with that incident. ‼️ THE 2010 INCIDENT — DEKALB COUNTY, ALABAMA Fifteen years later, prosecutors presented evidence that Gilliam raped another 13-year-old girl in DeKalb County, Alabama. Investigators said he also trafficked that child by forcing her to engage in sexual acts with another man in exchange for televisions and furniture. Again, he was never arrested or formally charged in connection with those allegations. Think about that. Allegations involving children spanning decades, yet no criminal charges resulted from those earlier incidents. 🚨 THE VERDICT Following a two-day trial before Chief Judge Brian House, a Dade County jury convicted Gilliam of: 🔴 1 count of Rape 🔴 1 count of Aggravated Sodomy 🔴 3 counts of Aggravated Child Molestation 🔴 1 count of Trafficking a Minor for Sexual Servitude 🔴 3 counts of Child Molestation NINE GUILTY VERDICTS! Gilliam now faces a maximum possible sentence of LIFE IN PRISON WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE. As of the October 22 announcement, sentencing had not yet been scheduled but was expected the following week. ❤️ THE COURAGE OF THESE VICTIMS I also want to recognize the members of B.A.C.A. — Bikers Against Child Abuse — who accompanied and supported the victims throughout the trial. And Investigator Chris Gravitt deserves recognition for the countless hours he dedicated to uncovering the evidence that helped secure these convictions. But most importantly, these victims deserve to be heard, believed, protected, and given every opportunity to heal. I keep thinking about that little four-year-old girl. Four years old.
