Prices are all over the place!! We bought our first home in Midcoast. We fixed it up and sold it at a decent profit and bought a bigger home at a reasonable price in Newport. Midcoast prices are crazy! Definitely depends where you are looking for the prices!

Lifetime Mainer here. Bought 4 acres and a 3BR ranch in fall 2019. Timing couldn’t have been better for us. I feel for yall, for real. There’s zero homes on Maines market that are a fair value for working families. It’s a shame

Nope I find nearly every house to be outrageous. The only kind of homes that are modern, clean, and have no issues are 500k. Can you find a reasonably priced home? Sure! But, expect the house to be 200 years old, rotten floors, 600 sq ft, need electrical repairs & some holes in the walls & don’t forget the home is located 1 hour away from the grocery store. Born and raised Mainer here but I hate what it’s become economically 🙃

hard part is as sellers, we can't even put our home to a more realistic selling price because then we can't afford to move either and the dang interest rates keep going up

Covid did tremendous damage to our real estate market here. As realtors, we’re very much aware it’s really become a challenge for people to find something up here. With that said, our inventory is actually beginning to get quite saturated. Even though the prices are still inflated, sellers are starting to realize they need to come back down to more practical pricing. I see hundreds of price reductions on MLS in Maine every day. It’s really about picking the area what you want to be in and finding a realtor that actually lives in that area.

I feel like the prices are all over the place. Some super cheap and scooped right up… but then there’s so much that seems too high and they have been on the market for a while.

Prices are dropping. Interest rates are dropping too. Unfortunately we built new a year ago and paid the price. Wish we would have waited. We spent 600 k for 1.25 acres, 1800 sqft 3 beds 2.5 baths, finished the space above the garage ourselves and that added 600 sqft. We could get so much more for 600k in today’s market. Bummed.

I live in the same area and I’ve noticed a lot of my listings around. Here are definitely sitting longer than what we expected, even after some price drops. But things obviously closer to the bigger cities still seem to be moving fairly quickly. Condition of the property is definitely making things move a little bit faster.

my parents bought their house in Maine in 1999 for 160k (which they said was expensive back then!) it's now worth 900k I'm never going to be able to buy a house in my hometown and I'm just going to have to accept it 😞

it's insane. 500k for peeling formica, stained linoleum and builder grade everything. I'm working in western New York and the house prices here at least match what you're getting.

People are asking 2021 prices when they first put it on the market and then lowering it when it doesn’t sell at that. I know a few realtors and they all say this now. So it really depends how long it’s been on the market

Its actually quite heartbreaking. Mainers can't afford to live in their ancestral home. I'm grateful my husband is a builder & built our home. I could never afford my house. Now its all so out of reach for so many. I feel your pain. I'm so sorry.🥺

25 yr. Retired Realtor here. (From Washington State) We’re new to Maine. Have watched the market here, with fascination. We bought last year & paid above asking, in a competitive neighborhood. In 1 year, 4 long time, senior sellers have put their homes on the market.. 1 family, underpriced for a quick sale, needing the funds for care. Another home, over priced, because heirs want $$. Every home has a selling story. Knowing the story helps when offering. Highly recommend a seasoned, professional Agent who is connected. Have Faith! The right home for you, will find you! 🏡🏡🏡
