@dailymailau: A petrol station worker has died after he was allegedly run over by a stranger while working on the forecourt on NSW's Mid North Coast. The 36-year-old man from Coffs Harbour was allegedly hit by a ute while checking fuel tank levels at a United Petroleum service station last week. 'The man was initially rendered first aid by members of the public before NSW Ambulance, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW SES attended and freed him,' NSW Police said in a statement. 'He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a critical condition, before he was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.' The alleged driver of the ute, a 44-year-old woman, was arrested and charged with negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and breach of bail. However, on Sunday, police were notified that the man had died in hospital. A report will be prepared for the information of the NSW Coroner.
