You post. People watch. Then what? That is the question most business owners never ask themselves. Because here is what actually happens. You have invested in content. You bought the ring light. You paid someone to edit. You woke up early to shoot. You have been consistent for three months. Then you post. And your cousin comments. Good stuff. Your aunt shares it. Somebody from your former school says you are doing well, keep going. Everybody is proud of you. Nobody buys anything. So let me tell you something as a business person. Never expect sales from your family members. They are not your customers. They are your supporters, and those are two completely different things. A supporter gives you encouragement. A customer gives you money. Family will like the post. Family will say congratulations. Family will even tell other people that you are doing something with computers. But when they need what you sell, some of them will still go and buy elsewhere. Or worse, they will ask for it free because you are family. So stop measuring your business by how your relatives respond. Your real customer is a stranger. Somebody who does not know you, does not owe you anything, and has no reason to be kind to you. They see your work, decide it solves their problem, and pay. That is the person you are creating content for. So when you post, ask yourself who this is actually speaking to. If the answer is people who already know me, you are just performing for your own circle. Speak to the stranger. The stranger is the one holding the money. — Elvis W.
