@autismresources7: 🧠🚨 NEW ADHD RESEARCH: CAN LIGHT-BASED BRAIN TRAINING HELP CHILDREN IMPROVE FOCUS AND SELF-CONTROL? What if children with ADHD could improve their attention and self-regulation through a noninvasive brain-training technique? Researchers are exploring an innovative approach called Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) Neurofeedback, and early findings are encouraging! 🔬 WHAT IS NIRS NEUROFEEDBACK? This technology uses near-infrared light to monitor changes in blood oxygenation in the brain. Children receive real-time feedback while practicing ways to regulate their brain activity, particularly in areas associated with attention, decision-making, and impulse control. 📚 WHAT DID THE STUDY FIND? A 2015 pilot study published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience examined 27 children ages 7–10 with ADHD. Nine children participated in 12 NIRS neurofeedback sessions over approximately 4–6 weeks. Researchers observed promising improvements: ✅ Reduced parent-reported ADHD symptoms ✅ Improvements in attention and impulse control ✅ More consistent responses during attention tests ✅ Teachers reported improvements at the four-week follow-up ✅ Some parent-reported improvements remained six months later ⚠️ BUT HERE’S WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW! Only nine children received NIRS neurofeedback, and their improvements were not significantly greater than those of the comparison groups. This means the findings are preliminary. Larger, well-controlled studies are needed to determine whether NIRS neurofeedback is an effective ADHD treatment. 💙 COULD THIS REPLACE ADHD MEDICATION? Not at this time. NIRS neurofeedback remains an experimental approach and should not replace evidence-based treatments such as behavioral interventions, parent training, school accommodations, or medication when appropriate. 🌟 WHY DOES THIS MATTER? Every child with ADHD is different. Research into additional treatment options could eventually provide families with more individualized ways to support attention, emotional regulation, and executive functioning. 📖 Research source: Frontiers in Human Neuroscience (2015), pilot study of NIRS neurofeedback in children with ADHD. 💬 PARENTS, WOULD YOU CONSIDER A NONINVASIVE BRAIN-TRAINING APPROACH FOR YOUR CHILD IF FUTURE RESEARCH PROVES IT EFFECTIVE?
