A much-needed date night, good food, and a little time to slow down. ❤️✨ After working hard these past few months, we finally got the chance to treat ourselves to dinner at VAGA Restaurant at Alila Marea Beach Resort in Encinitas. And this was actually our SECOND time dining here! We've always enjoyed our experience, and this visit reminded us why we keep coming back. Perched on a coastal bluff, VAGA brings together flavors inspired by San Diego's coastal surroundings, local farms, and cultures from near and far. And let me tell you, the food did not disappoint! Here's what we had: 🍸 Drinks • Lemon Drop Martini • Golden Horizon 🦪 Appetizers • Wood-Fired Venus Clams – bonito and pepper sofrito, fennel fumet, and grilled sourdough. A MUST ORDER! • Crudo – ahi tuna, calamansi ponzu, salsa macha, rose mountain apples, pickled lemon pepino, and borage. Another MUST TRY! 🍽️ Entrées • Halibut – purple cauliflower, lemon caper butter, and blistered heirloom tomato • Koji Hanger Steak – roasted shishito, peanut mole, and pickled red onions. MY FAVORITE! • Butter Basmati – spiced ghee butter and Marcona almonds 🍮 Dessert • Jericalla – Mexican crème brûlée with berries • Cappuccino If I had to pick my top 3, it's definitely the Venus Clams, Crudo, and Koji Hanger Steak! 🤌 We arrived around 5:30 PM and unfortunately missed most of the sunset, but we still caught a little glimpse of it, and it was lovely. Between the gorgeous coastal views, amazing food, and consistently wonderful service, everything made for such a peaceful and relaxing evening. Sometimes, you just need to step away from the everyday hustle, enjoy a good meal, and spend quality time together.
