@oniichanhq: We just lost another legend today 😔 Peggy King, Hollywood Walk of Fame singer and Emmy Award Nominated Actress affectionately remembered as “Pretty Perky Peggy King,” has passed away at 96. King became a familiar face in American homes during the 1950s as the featured vocalist on The George Gobel Show, bringing a warmth and effortless charm that made her one of early television’s recognizable personalities. But her career stretched far beyond one program. She sang with major big bands, recorded for Columbia Records, appeared alongside some of entertainment’s biggest names and crossed into film at a time when television itself was still finding its identity. She was also named Best New Singer by both Billboard and DownBeat during the height of her career. Some of her most remembered roles and appearances: • The George Gobel Show — Featured vocalist • Zero Hour! — Stewardess Janet Turner • Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy — Cafe Singer • Maverick — Jenny Hill • The Bad and the Beautiful — Singer at Party • Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates — Rychie Van Gleck • Producers’ Showcase — Tillie Hemmelpacker • The Jack Benny Program — Peggy King / musical appearances • The Bob Hope Show — Herself • The Nat King Cole Show — Herself Her performances came from an era when live television, big-band music and Hollywood glamour regularly shared the same stage. Peggy King was there for it, helping define what television entertainment looked and sounded like for an entire generation. Rest in peace, Peggy King. A voice from television’s golden age has gone silent, but the recordings and memories remain. #peggyking #walkoffamehollywood
