And before people say to just move somewhere cheaper, I’d rather gargle broken glass than live in fucking ARKANSAS.

I find it VERY hard to believe anyone with 6 people in their home is only spending $100-$150 on groceries

How do you spend $150 for six people? We are 3 and I spend $200-$250 every week.

Also, sometimes you don’t have time to drive to 5 different grocery stores.

Someone recently gave me an attitude on a different app when I posted about grocery prices and said it’s my fault because I don’t go to Walmart. My Walmart is not a supercenter! I’m so tired of the “why don’t you do this or that?” - we just don’t know everyone’s lives. I’m not working full time, raising a toddler, and driving over an hour for the cheapest groceries.

gosh, some people are doing so well on their budget! I average $600 per month for a family of 3 with pets - that includes household items. I am shocked and impressed that people spend that much on a family of 6.

We’re spending $250-300 per week for a family of four in California. There’s an Aldi 5 minutes away but I just don’t like the quality 🤷🏽♀️

You are much kinder than I. I was livid reading that comment section people were SO rude and condescending. If you can afford 400 a week a Whole Foods do it girl or you’re able to do it. People don’t recognize that everyone has different circumstances. I fear that people have lost the plot though.

I used to spend no more than $60 (vegetarian) for a week for 1 person and I’m quickly moving up to $100 a week in the same place, same shops

I have a family of 7. I’m a Walmart+ member because I like the delivery aspect, so we primarily shop there. I do occasional Aldi runs and we also get bulk meat from a local butcher or Costco. On average, I’m spending between $350-$400/week. So your haul didn’t seem overly high to me considering you were also getting a lot of organic stuff.

I’ve learned a few things which is most people underestimate how much they are spending and also it varies so widely based on eating habits, location, etc. Some people count paper towels and toilet paper as groceries, and some don’t. Some people do mostly crock pot dump meals, frozen meals and some don’t. Some people’s kids get lunch at school and some don’t . Some say they only spend x amount on groceries but get takeout all the time and don’t count that. It’s pretty useless to compare and I refuse to feel like I’m bad with money simply for buying food lol

How do you spend $100 for 6 people? We eat at home 99.9% of the time and are eating a protein, carb and veggie/salad every night. I’m spending $100-150 at Trader Joe’s every week plus Costco a couple hundred every few weeks.

You also didn’t talk as if it was a budgeting video. It was more just what you and your family like to eat and how much that costs

This is so true. I shop at Aldis and it makes a HUGE difference. But it’s my closest store too so of course I shop there. And with driving far for groceries, gas and time are both expensive

I’m 33, 4 kids.. this is the FIRST time in my life I’ve ever had to actually budget, watch what I buy, and sacrifice things I use to get, etc. and we make the most money we’ve ever made. And I started having kids at 20 lol I’m gonna need everyone to stop standing up for these grocery stores and food prices. ONE home cooked basic meal costs us $40-60. If we’re lucky. It’s not affordable. Anywhere.

I spend $350-400 for a family of 4 (5 when my daughter is home from college). I live in a low COL of living area, shop at Aldi/Walmart, we don’t eat out, and this includes household/pets. I don’t know how people are doing $150/week?!

Funny I actually guessed spot on before you said it! I to spend weekly $350+ at HEB or Whole Foods and that’s not including Costco! If your a family that cooks majority meals at home & also health conscious that’s the price!! It’s sad and it’s a lot but the reality!

I live in Florida. We spend around $800 a month for a family of 4. Driving 30-45 minutes isn’t that long as someone who drives 45 minutes to work daily. Can never convince me that shopping Whole Foods is the best option.

Your previous video was honestly eye opening. As a fellow family of six in MO, I thought what you spent for a family of six was incredibly reasonable. Yes, groceries are expensive; I volunteer at and help allocate funds to our local food pantry. I’m not talking about those in need of help like that. However, not buying fresh meat or fish is unfathomable to me. I also think Whole Foods is quite a bit cheaper than my local, large chains especially when utilizing the Prime discount and delivery. What people also didn’t account for is that time is also money. Shopping around, if you actually have the time, costs one gas or time I could be spending with my family or doing other things. When I commented as much, the amount of money people were spending on groceries for a week for the same size family just isn’t possible.
