@recordbirthday: ——— 🎈Record Birthday 🎂 ——— On October 26, 1973, The Who released Quadrophenia in the United States. Pete Townshend’s second major rock opera follows Jimmy, a young mod trying to work out where he belongs. Across a double album, the sound of the sea, recurring themes and the power of the four musicians give his confusion an unusually vivid setting. The Real Me arrives with John Entwistle’s extraordinary bass, 5:15 turns the tension into movement, and The Punk and the Godfather confronts the gap between idols and fans. Love, Reign O’er Me gives the story its huge emotional release. This is a record worth making time for.
