@og.animee: South Koreans Hold Pork BBQ to Protest Mosque Construction! A controversial protest in Daegu, South Korea, has sparked debate over religion, cultural differences, and local residents' rights. In December 2022, residents opposing the construction of a mosque organized a pork barbecue directly outside the construction site. The choice of pork was particularly provocative because its consumption is forbidden in Islam. Local residents raised concerns about the mosque's location in a residential neighborhood, while Muslim students and supporters defended their right to religious freedom. The protest sparked criticism from religious freedom advocates, who described the action as discriminatory.
