The first floor thing is probably absurd for an adult who knows a bit about art history. But it was great to show my young kids—lots of important works in one place (since my 6yo won’t hit the met, ufizzi, British museum, louvre all in the same year).

Was also there Friday, 3rd visit. It was the first time I explored the 1st floor galleries and, I must agree, for it to be an introduction to Narrative art, it's lacking. If you don't have a background in art, it can be difficult to make the connections from what is there, to what is upstairs. it seemed to be more of a vessel for pieces of his collection that didn't fit within main gallery themes, so they added this "history" section. I'm NEVER a fan of digital imagery as a substitute for real pieces (at least give us a replication) and I very much dislike wandering through a section based on teaching us "history of narrative art" while leaving it loose and confusing - with no "narrative" to follow. it's definitely my least favorite space so far.
