THE DEADLY LOVERS | CERSEI & JAIME — GAME OF THRONES 🖤 Cersei Lannister has just told her father the family secret. Naturally, her next appointment is with the other half of it. Tywin has plans. Cersei has objections. And somewhere between an arranged marriage she has absolutely no intention of accepting and a future somebody else has designed for her, she decides that honesty might finally be useful. Which, for Cersei, is saying something. She goes to Jaime. He thinks they are still arguing about Tyrion. Cersei has moved on to a considerably larger negotiation. Because Jaime believes there are choices they simply don’t get to make. Cersei disagrees. Of course she does. Lena Headey plays the scene with that wonderfully dangerous certainty Cersei wears whenever fear has been converted into strategy. She tells Jaime what she has done, what she has refused, and where she intends to stay. With Tommen. With him. And away from the life their father has chosen for her. There is truth in what she says. That is what makes it so effective. Cersei does love Jaime. She also happens to love the fact that choosing Jaime allows her to choose herself. And if those two objectives align perfectly for once, she is hardly going to complain. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s Jaime barely gets time to process the confession before Cersei has turned it into a decision for both of them. She chooses him. She chooses them. And, rather conveniently, she chooses not to do a single thing Tywin just told her to do. Romance is complicated in Westeros. Romance with Cersei Lannister is closer to a hostile takeover. But for one moment, underneath the strategy, the defiance and the spectacularly questionable family tree, there is something startlingly simple. She wants Jaime. And Cersei has never been particularly good at wanting something quietly. 🖤 #GameOfThrones #LenaHeadey #NikolajCosterWaldau #CerseiLannister #JaimeLannister
