@midestar40: At first, I thought moving in with my mother-in-law might only be temporary. My husband kept saying we could save money, get back on our feet, and eventually have our own place. But then he reminded me of her rules. I’m not allowed to use the kitchen without permission. I’m expected to follow her routines, stay out of certain spaces, and basically live under her roof by her standards. I already know how difficult she can be, and I’m scared that moving in will turn our marriage into a constant battle between my husband, his mother, and me. My husband says I’m making things bigger than they are and that we should just sacrifice for a while. But I keep asking myself: if I already feel uncomfortable with the arrangement before moving in, what happens after we actually live there?
