I’ve been playing Onimusha for like 3-4 days. Kinda, I’m only about 8-10ish hours in because I’ve had work and been tired so I haven’t played it every day. My issue though is the combat is FINE, but everything else is terrible. The graphics, English voices and lip syncs, the character models, map is nothing special, side quests are lame, so far none of the characters are too interesting besides Musashi and maybe Ganryu, but I definitely won’t remember any of the characters like I do other great characters like Kratos, Joel, Arthur Morgan, and so many other examples. Animations are good in combat then mid outside. I just don’t know how Capcom can drop absolutely amazing games like RE9 and then deliver something significantly lower quality, at a later date. I swear DMC5 LOOKS better than this game. Monster Hunter Wilds has me feel the same way about some of these things, yet I still feel like that’s better. It feels like I’m playing an early ps4 generation game with a ps5 coat of paint. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still liking and playing the game, but I think it being so highly rated is a bit much, and that it definitely isn’t a perfect 10, even if IGN is the most bipolar company ever when it comes to ratings. Phantom Blade Zero on the other hand, actually looks good while still having the good looking combat, which right now is the only genuine positive about Onimusha.
