To everyone stroking their tuners and saying it wasn't a powerful car.....it was 1987.

275-300 HP is so fast? They were a beautiful car but they were slow by today's standards in stock form.

Meanwhile a stock 2009 Cadillac CTS V, and several other luxury cars, would stomp this thing into the ground.

These cars get way too much hype, cool cars, but they arent these insanely fast cars like people say they are. They were fast by smog era standards when big blocks were making 200hp. Go back to the late 60s and early 70s and most all of the cars that would compete with the gnx would wax it.

it was badass for its time and for what was in it. not as fast for todays standards, but its like comparing an '85 vmax with todays r1's or gsx's

I worked at a Buick dealer in ‘87. Was only able to ride as a passenger with regional rep. Amazing car in its day, but I’d rather have a ‘89 Turbo T/A

I was a a tech at a Buick dealer from the early 90’s -2008 ish. By today’s standards the GNX was not fast. But for its day it was a quick car. It’s not all about being the quickest car etc though. There is an aura of the GNX to this day.IMO the GNX is on the Mt Rushmore of American Muscle cars. Only 547 were produced, you rarely see one at any local car shows etc

Raced a guy with my 80 turbo Trans Am. Beat him and he was mad. I popped the hood and showed him the big block I had put in. Now that’s a sleeper.
