I took calcium in the first trimester on top of my regular prenatals and never had an issue tho one of my friends told me to take calcium because her teeth fell out and I made sure to take it early on and never had any gum issues or teeth issues

You won’t lose your teeth❤️my dentist said it is a myth. yes, your gums may bleed, that’s normal. people only lose their teeth because they don’t pay that much attention to them during pregnancy. for example if you throw up DON’T brush them immediately bc the acid weekens your enamel and if you brush the acid into your teeth, it’s pure torture to them. chew a gum, wait an hour, then brush. you will be fine😁

GUYS- I HAVE NOW BOUGHT SOME ADDITIONAL CALCIUM TABLETS. Very likely going to have a nightmare about losing all my teeth after all these comment

im in dental hygiene school and we are learning about pregnancy and dentistry right now!! some tips i can unofficially (because still a student duh) offer are to make sure if you throw up from morning sickness don’t brush your teeth right away, they are coated in acid and it can cause erosion of your enamel! also if you notice yourself eating more carbs because of cravings try to brush after that because the bacteria that causes cavities LOVES carbohydrates. chewing gum with xylitol as an ingredient can also help in preventing cavities. once you have your baby remember that cavities and the bacteria that causes them is contagious so try to remember to not clean the pacifier with your mouth if baby drops it on the grown, and be cautious of kissing baby on mouth. gingivitis is common in pregnant women so don’t be scared, just be considerate of your flossing and brushing patterns and maybe consider getting an extra soft bristled toothbrush. above all, i hope your pregnancy is so so so boring and uneventful and baby and mommy are healthy!

I have two cavities after three pregnancies and I haven’t had cavities since I was maybe 9. The worst part? Moneys tight so it’s been 2 months and I still haven’t gotten them filled…
