@izyexplores: Before the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was established, the Arabian Peninsula was made up of different political entities, each with its own leadership, alliances and interests. The unification process sought to bring these territories under one political authority, creating greater centralisation and laying the foundations for the modern Saudi state. But unification was not a single event. It was a complex process shaped by competing interests, military campaigns, negotiations and local resistance. At Az Zulfi, the story offers a glimpse into the challenges of that process — and the communities that fought to preserve their autonomy.

The funny thing is that Al Asa'adi tribe (which is part of my tribe "Otaiba") moved from our ancestors' land in Ta'if merely 50 years later. Then Ibn Saud (King Abdulaziz) used our tribe's ruthless fighters to conquer the rest of Arabia!
P.s.: Prophet Muhammad was raised by Al Asa'adis. 🥰

Most of the regions of Saudi Arabia did not submit to King Abdulaziz through war, but rather through marriage. He married his sons to women from the tribes, thus strengthening family ties. They entered the Third Saudi State voluntarily, and many retained their princely titles, such as the Sudairi family, while others, like the Mutair tribe, kept their lands. This differs from the Saudi state, which conquered territories by force.

A historical narrative is being crafted to suit the image favored by the West—an approach rooted in Orientalism, a line of thought analyzed by Edward Said. The West prefers to perceive Arabs through stories of a people in conflict.
