@bbeiron: We talk a lot about first-generation immigrants and their children in Sweden, but at what point does someone actually become Swedish? You can spend years learning the language, adapting to the culture, working and contributing to society, yet still feel like an outsider. Integration takes effort, and it should. But it also raises the question of when someone is finally accepted as part of the society they've worked so hard to become part of. #sweden #immigrant #international #movingabroad
I'm fine with being considered an immigrant just let me fucking immigrate and have and raise Swedish children with a Swedish man and forget about where I came from and not have to worry about being kicked tf out

Well I understand that because ethnically I’m not Swedish. Honestly I don’t get offended if I get seen as an immigrant.

Most of the people who think this doesn’t matter are just privileged, they have never felt that they have no place in the world where they belong, all because of their DNA. 2nd+ generation immigrants are not the same nationality as the people in the country they live in and they are foreigners to the people where they “actually come from”, stop telling people who they are and just mind your own business, thank you

My sister is married to a Swedish man and has four Swedish children. She has spent most of her life in Sweden, speaks perfect Swedish, and is deeply integrated into her husband’s culture. Yet, she has never claimed to be Swedish. She remains proud of her country of origin and always makes a point of telling people about it..

People confuse ethnicity with nationality. Swede by defenition is swedish citizen. And being swede with different ethnicity is fine. The problem is racism and people not accepthing other ethnicities as swedes.
