@daddysbike: NICU Nurses Bring Halloween Joy With Tiny Costumes for Their Youngest Patients Across the United States, neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) nurses have embraced a heartwarming Halloween tradition: creating handmade costumes for their tiniest patients. One little baby became the center of attention dressed as Pennywise from IT. The miniature costume featured a grey ruffled suit, red pom-poms, small face markings, and a red balloon prop, recreating the character’s recognizable look in a tiny, carefully adapted design. Behind the playful appearance is thoughtful planning. NICU babies often need medical equipment such as oxygen tubes, IV lines, and monitoring leads. Costumes must be designed and fitted carefully so they do not interfere with essential care or disturb the equipment. For families spending Halloween in a hospital instead of at home, these small celebrations can offer a welcome moment of happiness during an emotionally difficult time. The nurses’ efforts reflect more than holiday creativity. They show how compassionate care can include thoughtful gestures that help families make special memories, even in challenging circumstances. Sometimes, the smallest costumes bring the biggest smiles.
