@physionic_phd: Could a naturally occurring bile acid help reverse insulin resistance? Human research suggests that TUDCA (tauroursodeoxycholic acid) may improve how our cells respond to insulin through a fascinating mechanism. One proposed explanation involves the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), a structure responsible for processing and folding proteins inside our cells. When proteins accumulate incorrectly, they create ER stress, which can interfere with insulin signaling and contribute to insulin resistance. TUDCA may reduce this cellular stress, allowing insulin signaling to function more effectively. In a controlled human study, researchers gave adults with insulin resistance 1,750 mg of TUDCA daily for four weeks. The results were impressive: insulin sensitivity improved by approximately 30% in the liver and skeletal muscle, while no comparable improvement occurred in fat tissue. Researchers also observed increased activation of IRS-1 and Akt, two important proteins involved in transmitting insulin signals within cells. However, the human evidence remains limited. This was a small, short-term study, and we still need larger trials to establish whether TUDCA produces meaningful long-term metabolic benefits. How to Use This: TUDCA is a promising experimental approach to insulin resistance, but the current evidence isn’t sufficient to recommend it as a routine treatment. Gastrointestinal side effects can also occur. Want to know more about TUDCA’s effects on liver health, cellular stress, insulin-signaling proteins, and blood vessel function? I cover these additional mechanisms in my Physionic Insider membership. The link to join is in my bio. Have you heard of TUDCA before? References: Kars M, et al. Dr. Berg has been talking about Tudca for years. If western medicine is picking up on it finally, this is good. Didn’t know Tudca was an acronym. Haven’t heard about Udca. Interesting!

This makes me wonder if insulin resistance starts in the gut. Seems like gut issues are damn near just about the cause of everything if your gut Microbiome gets screwed up

I wonder if taking the correct probiotics (not just any probiotics bc most don’t actually do any good) and also amino acids, or even whey protein, would help in the same way…with udka attaching to a torine amino acid? All of this is so fascinating-thanks for posting!

Tudca helps with fatty liver which might impact how insulin is processed.

Inferred is that if you don’t get Taurine the you don’t make much Tudca on your own. Unless we make Taurine? I’ve done a lot of research and I don’t think anybody knows all of its effects.
