Pay-out: 2 weeks’ salary per year, first 20 yrs; 1 week per year after. 🔹 VEP – Voluntary Exit (60–63): extra incentive to leave early. Pay-out: 2 weeks’ salary per year, first 10 yrs; 1 week per year after. What we know so far (MTBPS figures): - Phase 1: 8,245 already exited, cost R3.87bn - Phase 2: 19,347 applications processed — not all have left yet - Net saving: R4.3bn (27/28) → R4.4bn (28/29) → R4.6bn (29/30) - Room for ~7,101 frontline posts: clinics, schools, police, correctional services Parliament likes the idea — fresh blood, lower bill.
