@helpmommy66: When is your baby REALLY ready for sleep training? Newborns aren't supposed to sleep through the night! Most babies become ready to start learning independent sleep skills around 4–6 months, but every baby develops differently. Sleep training doesn't have to mean crying it out, and it doesn't mean your baby no longer needs nighttime feedings. What's your biggest baby sleep struggle? #HelpMommy #BabySleep #SleepTraining #NewParents #PediatricianAdvice

I do/did all the right things but he’s 16 months old and is still a terrible sleeper. Has been in his own room since 3.5 months. Any advice?

My baby didn’t sleep through the night until he was 18 months old 😩 and my new baby is looking like she’s on the same path 🙃 oh well, I have the patience and she’s my last child… as long as they’re alive and well is what matters to me the most ❣️

When do you recommend moving them into their own room?

We established a sleep routine at the beginning, which I think helps. They moved my baby into his own crib at 5.5months. He’s 10.5months now and still doesn’t sleep through the night. No matter what you do, in the end every baby is different.

In my 2.5 years of parenting I’ve learned to lower MY expectations. It’s a humbling experience to be a parent 🥲

I have the same bedtime routine with my 2nd that I did my 1st. My 1st still doesn’t sleep through the night, my 2nd sleeps like a dream. I think it’s a mix of baby’s temperament, the parent’s experience (I’m a lot less nervous with my 2nd) and routine. I stopped checking the time when the baby wakes up and I know that sleepless nights won’t last forever, that also helps ❤️

Do you have a video about when to stop allowing a nighttime bottle to help put them to bed? (I’m a parent to a 7 mo. old that’s concerned about her teeth)

My son was 4 months old. I used a method called shush/pat. It wasn’t about sleeping through the night. That was never my goal. My goal was independent sleep. I shushed and patted my son to sleep. I did it for less and less time each day. He learned “oh I can sleep when I’m not in mom’s arms.” He slept through the night at 6 months old literally the day he started solids. He’s 4 now, and we still have the same routine. Bath, book, bed. Blackout curtains. Sound machine. Fan on. Bedtime is 7:30 sharp. He’s an amazing sleeper!

My baby has slept through the night since 2 months, I’ve been doing the same routine: bath, pjs then bottle but putting her to sleep most nights is a whole struggle but once she’s asleep she sleeps the whole night she’s 4 months now.

The only thing I struggle with so much is making the room dark at night.. Did anyone else struggle with this? I have a cosleeper attached to my bed so she sleeps in her own bed, directly next to me. The first day she was born I turned on a small nightlight to be able to see her immediately when I open my eyes. We’re 4 weeks in and I still just can’t get myself to turn off all the lights, because I’m afraid of not being able to see her when I open my eyes.. 😅Am I crazy?

Same time bedtime at 4 month regression is so hard. If he fights his last nap it’s bath time at 6:15ish if he sleeps his last nap then it’s bath time at 7. I can’t keep it same everyday [Teary eyed]

Ok, but which is more important to go by: the clock or the wake windows? Because I’ve been going by “bedtime is 4 hours after the end of the last nap” which makes him the perfect amount of sleepy to go to bed easily, but it means bedtime can be anywhere from 6:00 to 8:00 depending on how good his last nap was.

My five month old has had a consistent bed time routine since six weeks and still bedtime is a struggle every night and she’s up multiple times throughout the night. I understand the habits thing works for some people but it’s so annoying when people say “you just need a bed time routine!” as if I haven’t been trying that for four months.

Routine is key! My children are adults now! Open the blinds and give them as much natural light during the day!

I think people mean like Ferber method usually! We did it at 7 months and moved her into her own room and it seriously saved us.

I second the routine statement. First time mom here with ten month twins. We started a bedtime routine pretty early in the game and I will say it works for us and for them. Let’s face most of my day is pretty schedule in almost all aspects. Now with that all being said, it has slightly changed here and there depending on the kids development and moods BUT it does work if you stick to a routine. It’s nice when everyone knows what to expect even the kiddos.

Both of my girls are pretty good sleepers! But also if we have something special going on (holidays parties vacation) we don’t obsess over bedtime but we feel the consequences until we go back to our regular routine lol

We have two infants, 4 and 7 months, (foster babies) we keep the same routine every single day. Both take naps during the day and both sleep through the night. If we do something that gets us off schedule it definitely affects them

I started sleep training once his wake windows got longer and he wouldn't fall asleep after feeding. he's started sleeping roughly 9 to 10 hours at night around 4 months.

ny sleep training was: i dont worry and just wing it. we barely struggled with sleepless nights, didnt even have sleep regressions. we followed her flow in sleep and needs. at 15 months she is a great sleeper,
