@dennisearl: Just because you’ve been lifting weights for 20 years doesn’t mean you’ve been doing it right for 20 years. You might just have 20 years of experience doing the same stupid shit! 💀💪 I’ve been under the bar for decades, and at 51, I’m STILL learning, experimenting, and changing the way I train. Experience matters, but only if you’re actually learning from it. What worked 15 years ago might not be the best approach today. The minute you think you’ve got bodybuilding completely figured out is the minute you stop growing your knowledge. Being willing to change your mind isn’t weakness. It’s growth. 🔥 Now I wanna hear from you! What’s ONE thing you used to believe about building muscle that you’ve completely changed your mind about? Drop it in the comments! 👇 #BodybuildingOver50 #MuscleBuilding #GymKnowledge #BodybuildingTips #TrainSmarter

I used to train 100% every session 5-6 days a week beating on my nervous system with high volume workouts drop sets intensifiers. For about 1-2 years. I developed REDs and chronic fatigue. Now I train with 2 working sets per exercise, within 1-2 reps of failure and no crazy intensifiers. Trying to treat my body with more care and trying to get more out of less training

“The more weight, the more muscle”. That doesn’t work for me at my age. Less weight more reps and volume, control, technique and intensity has added far more gains in my older years.

I'm 51 and about to finish my first year of lifting. I'm more comfortable in the gym but still feel like a newb in some ways.

As we get older we must also be open to tweaking and doing things that used to work but no longer do.. perimenopause is one I’ve learned … 23 years of bodybuilding and eating one way and now I’ve learned that insulin resistance and cortisol change the game.. carb cycling now to lose the fluff.. got on HRT and TRT added to my tool box.. learning a whole new skill set … and it’s actually exciting again

Yes! I’ve seen met jewelers who’ve been doing it for 20-30 years that are terrible jewelers. So I definitely agree 🤙🏼

At 55, time under tension with less weight, slow complete rep range works for me.
