there's a line in a TV show. I think about all the time " you didn't make good choices. you had good choices"

The submission sounds more like the OP is trying to convince themselves that everything is perfect when it’s not.

Love that she called this a “fairytale” then proceeded to say a minimum of 10 reasons that would make me think twice about having children 🤔

Ooohhhh I remember being her and then my 15 year old was killed and covid hit. My husband ran off with a woman 25 years younger than him and left me with our 5 surviving children and no money.

This was me during the first 10 years of my marriage. And I forced myself to ignore any flags. I made an excellent choice at the time. That my now ex-husband became so emotionally abusive, or that all of it became so hard and complicated made it that much more startling when he left after 18 years. I wish there were a moral to the story. But I will admit that I felt a bit of righteousness about my joyful union, my luck, my beautiful child easily conceived after 40. I regret that haughtiness now. Everyone deserves love and support. No one can predict the future.

Yeahhhhhh- I would’ve written something like that at age 28….two years into a marriage, happy to be having a baby. 17 years later……that woman would have never believed what would eventually happen. 💔

She just wanted the women here calling her life "goals". There is not a single piece of wisdom or advice in her story. I am too a very happily married, supported, lucky mother of a beautifully perfect 15 month old boy, but I will never dare to think my story is something that anyone can have by just choosing right. You don't get to choose your birth family, or the baby you bring into this world, their health conditions, your partner's health, your own health, how your partner parents, your financial situation, pregnancy, health insurance coverage... None of the things that matter the most in the final outcome is a choice you can simply plan ahead with high standards. Don't assume other people's reality is purely a bad choice because it isn't, most of a person's circumstances are something you are born into or simply cannot control. You know something you can actually control? Your choice whether or not to have children, whether or not to get married. That you can choose.
