CATASTROPHIC FLOODING ALONG SAN JUAN RIVER | HISTORIC RIVER CREST FORECAST, EVACUATIONS UNDERWAY🚨 A potentially devastating flood event is unfolding along the San Juan River, where water levels are forecast to climb beyond a historic crest recorded nearly 100 years ago! The National Weather Service is warning of CATASTROPHIC FLOODING along the San Juan River from the Four Corners area downstream toward Mexican Hat. A Flood Warning remains in effect until 6AM MDT Tuesday. A HISTORIC RIVER CREST IS FORECAST! As of this morning, the San Juan River near Bluff was measuring 19.6 feet, still below the official flood stage of 23 feet. However, the river is expected to rise rapidly, with a projected crest of 43.6 feet early Monday morning. For perspective, the previous historical crest was 32 feet on September 10, 1927. If the latest forecast verifies, the river would exceed that level by an extraordinary 11.6 FEET!! EVACUATIONS AND MAJOR FLOODING IMPACTS! Evacuation notices have been issued for Bluff, Montezuma Creek and Aneth as emergency personnel work to move residents away from the rising water. Approximately 150 people were expected to evacuate from the Montezuma Creek and Aneth communities alone. Other communities threatened by significant flooding include Mexican Hat, Halchita and Tselakai Dezza. River levels are expected to reach dangerous heights around Aneth, Montezuma Creek and Bluff this afternoon and evening, with flooding continuing downstream toward Lake Powell. PLEASE TAKE THIS SITUATION SERIOUSLY! Follow evacuation instructions immediately, stay away from the river and never attempt to cross flooded roads or bridges. Give emergency crews room to operate. This could become one of the most significant flooding events in the recorded history of this stretch of the San Juan River🚨 #navajonation #navajo #navajotiktok #bluffutah
