All of this is “coming to a head” as my Georgia grandmother would say; meaning a reckoning-that all branches of government will have to recognize on paper, America’s greatest sins can no longer be suppressed.

He just clearly explained to this man how they reclassified the Indians, and then he turns around an ask him can he prove it?

This is not 100% true because I have census records in the 1800 and the 1900s where my ancestors were still listed as Indian. However, they are now writing B’s on top of the I’s.

Many of my Ancestors were labeled as "Mulatto" on the census. This makes me feel better about it, rather than believing the alternative. However, I believe my maternal grandmother actually did have some in her ancestry.

Looking at the 1790 census available today, I do not see “mulatto” as an option—only “slaves.” This suggests that enslaved people captured and trafficked into the United States were more than likely Native Americans and were classified as enslaved. The 1800 census does reference “all other free persons” and “slaves,” which could encompass Native and the alleged African people as well.

My great grandma always said we were native. On the documents I have of her parents, her mother was classified as mulatto, she’s a freeman from north Louisiana.
