@eatenpathnicole: FAVE TACOS @taqueriaguerrero17 - This place has my heart and reminds of childhood weekends when we lived in Los Angeles. Get the lengua tacos, pozole and menudo. Thank me later. - HISTORY MOMENT: Birria tacos originate in Cocula, Jalisco and were originally made with goat meat. When the Spaniards violently colonized Mexico they brought with them chickens, goats & pigs, drastically changing the mostly vegetarian diet of the Indigenous peoples. The story goes that goats quickly became a nuisance, eating up the crops of the Indigenous peoples & were one of the causes of a great famine that swept the population. So the Natives started cooking the goats to survive! The goat was cooked with herbs & spices in a kiln until it was super flavorful and tender. Essentially the birria taco was born out of pure survival! You can find more info on VallartaEats.com. . . . . . #neworleansfood #neworleansfoodies #mexicaneats #comidamexicana #latinoownedbusiness
