That’s all good until the bf decides to jokes back and then he takes it too far because he’s just playing and he hurt her feelings

This feels like triangulation. Step 1 is if bf has a problem with a friend, it's bf's job to talk to that person directly.

As someone who loves to tease people and has a sense of dark humor, it is only fun if everyone is having fun. People like this are the ones who peaked as edgelords in highschool and never grow out of that phase

I hate people that use "im not changing who I am for you" as an excuse to continue being harmful. If being harmful is that essential of an identity to you, leave me tf alone.

I would say have him do it back. And then say oh come on I’m just joking.

It’s only joking if everyone is laughing, otherwise it’s just bullying. Making fun of your friends is a normal part of friendship, but it should be done in a way that no one’s feelings actually get hurt. If the target doesn’t find it funny you apologize and learn that joke is off limits. Your friends should feel safe telling you that you hurt there feelings, and you should want that feed back and want to stop doing anything that hurts your friends. You should not want to hurt your friends, whether that was your intention or not.

“(S)He’ll grow on you” or “that’s just his/her sense of humor” are both code for they are a-holes that wear you down.

ITS NEVER THAT DEEP :
To be honest if someone requests for you not to kid with them it’s simple don’t kid with them. Just because that’s your personality does not mean they have to be okay with it

Take “bf” out of it. If someone doesn’t like the mean jokes regardless of if its yr personality or just “who u are” it’s an objectively mean thing to continue to say jokes or talk badly about that person. Its not changing who u are it’s respecting other people and not making them feel badly on purpose

it's always the people that are hurting others who then say "omg im not gonna change myself because someone is upset from my behaviour. it's their fault for being hurt they just should not feel hurt"

As the partner being bullied by the “best friend”? I appreciate this video. At one point, I endured crying every other day with the nasty messages from their “besties”, having to hear super vulgar ‘jokes’ about not mattering to my partner, that they were down bad and making out with my partner (which wasn’t happening), and then told that the constant, in-depth ‘them fucking my partner’ jokes and insults about me were ‘funny’ and I was being ‘dramatic’. I didn’t say anything for months. Eventually hit a point where I asked they didn’t make them around me. That I got they were jokes but didn’t find them funny. :) then I endured the bullying and hostility from their ‘bestie’ for another half a year before having a nervous breakdown. I felt so alone for a very long time trying to just endure it because I loved someone. If you love your partner, stand up for them. It isn’t triangulation or conflict seeking to ask for bullying to stop.

‘It’s just jokes’ as a class A bitch who people constantly think I’m awful to my best friend. It’s only jokes if the things you’re saying don’t offend the person you’re saying them to/about otherwise it’s bullying

My issue with all this is, if you knew your friend and you knew your bf personality why mix them? Why make your bestfriend feel bad about herself over a man? Why make your man feel bad about himself over a friend? I don’t understand people who are like this and then end up in this very predictable situation. It’s avoidable

question: how to get your partner to either stand up for you or stop insulting you?
