@sabrina_ramonov: Hit follow and tell me: What advantage would you build? Clones ship fast. When software is easy to copy, I look for advantages growing stronger as the business grows. 1. Data flywheels Users generate useful data to help you improve the product. 2. Network effects The product becomes more useful as more people use it. 3. Hard-to-enter markets Regulated fields such as health care and fintech take more time and effort to enter. A small profitable software business doesn't need to win a venture-scale race. At 1,000 customers paying $50 a month, revenue is $50,000 a month. This is meaningful for many indie founders, even if a competitor copies parts of the product. What makes a startup defensible? Is a small software company profitable? What are network effects? #startups #saas #bootstrapping #entrepreneurship #indiehackers
I don’t think people truly understand how many people are in this world. Sure people can code your app or software in an hour for themselves, but if you can nail distribution then you’ll find plenty of people who would rather pay you for your product than try and code it themselves.

devs at the startup are also using ai to build faster. randos at home aren't the only people with access to ai.

The moat is understanding a complex business problem. This is always under rated.

There are thousands of niches where processes could be taken into an vibed coded app/software, key to success is finding the right people who dominate those processes (gen x guys or early millennials), mostly inside industries with a lo of regulations and compliance. Take those people and be a translator to a lean and effective process through software, 10x or more cost and time reduced. There is huge gap between people who are vibe coders and people who happen to dominate those processes, those are the ends of a string and the one who put them together are the ones who will succeed.

Data and distribution. If you have unique data that others can’t find, and/or you have access to users with more data… that’s the moat. Network effects will alwayssss be valuable.
