But here’s the truth: There is still no confirmed Buc-ee’s coming to Sayreville — or anywhere else in New Jersey. So why does the rumor keep coming back? Because honestly… Sayreville sounds believable. Major highway access. Central Jersey. Big commercial development. Bass Pro going in. It’s exactly the kind of place where a Buc-ee’s rumor almost writes itself. But plausible and confirmed are two very different things. The biggest roadblock may actually be New Jersey’s full-service gas law. Buc-ee’s locations can have 100+ fueling positions, and that model gets a whole lot harder when every pump needs attendants. They can easily just put less pumps and hire a few attendants. Say maybe the same size fueling as the Clifton Costco or a BJs fuel lot. Not a crazy shift if they really want to be in NJ.
