@teriterirn: INVISIBLE DISABILITIES AWARENESS & ADHD AWARENESS MONTH Last week was Invisible Disabilities Week (18–24 October), and October is also ADHD Awareness Month. But here's the thing... Awareness shouldn't be limited to a week or a month. For millions of people living with invisible disabilities, neurodivergence and chronic health conditions, this is their reality 365 days a year. So here's a MASSIVE shout-out to everyone living with something the world can't always see. Chronic illness. Chronic pain. Fatigue. Fibromyalgia. ADHD. Autism. Mental health conditions. And so many more. Whether you're loud and proud, advocating for yourself, learning to unmask, or silently struggling just to get through another day... I SEE YOU!! Because let's face it, it's crazy hard sometimes. It's exhausting when so much of your physical, mental and emotional energy goes into simply surviving. Doing everyday things that others take for granted. Managing symptoms, navigating systems that weren't designed with you in mind, and using most of your energy just to manage the things people see. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Beneath the surface are the battles nobody sees. The pain, the exhaustion, the overwhelm, the recovery time, the appointments, the decisions, the emotional toll. And then, on top of all that, having to justify why you need rest, understanding or support. And isn't it funny how people who've never lived with your condition often seem to have all the answers about how you should manage it? Sometimes the hardest part isn't even the condition itself. It's the judgement, assumptions, unsolicited advice and constant pressure to prove that your struggles are real. It's also a society that too often measures people's worth by how productive, capable or independent they appear to be. Around 80% of disabilities are estimated to be non-visible. And yes, ADHD absolutely belongs in this conversation. It's a recognised neurodevelopmental condition and, when it substantially affects everyday life over the long term, can be recognised as a disability under the Equality Act 2010. So here's your reminder: * Your pain is real. * Your struggles are valid. * Rest is NOT laziness. * Needing support is NOT weakness. * You don't have to look disabled to BE disabled. * You are the expert in your own lived experience. * Your worth is NOT measured by your productivity. You shouldn't have to fight to be believed on top of fighting to get through the day. So here's a massive virtual high five to everyone navigating battles others don't see. To those surviving, thriving, unmasking, advocating, resting, rebuilding, or simply doing their bloody best. I see you. I hear you. I believe you. Your experience matters. And to everyone else, perhaps it's time we stopped trying to fix people and started listening to them. Compassion. Curiosity. Understanding. Respect. Sometimes that's what makes the biggest difference. PLEASE SHARE in solidarity with your friends, family, colleagues and loved ones living with invisible disabilities, whether they're speaking out or suffering in silence. Because nobody should have to struggle alone, and nobody should have to prove their pain to deserve compassion. #creatorsearchinsights #adhd #disability #chronicillness #awareness
