My sister grew up babysitting for the family that owned the busiest local bar. They told her the minute you hit 18, you have a guaranteed position. She was part of the family at that point. After she's been working there several months, the local baseball team comes in to celebrate a win. Separate tabs. Nobody ordered anything at the same time, so every time she came to deliver something, somebody else needed something. She had to give to up all her other tables. They were there for hours. They left her a total of 82¢ in small change as a tip. She picked it up off the table, walked outside after them, and threw the change at them. The team manager asked what the problem was and made everybody go back in and apologize in person and give her twenty bucks. And the owners never blinked an eye. They absolutely would have banned the entire team for her. She went on to be a bar manager and kitchen manager for them, helped open other locations, created menus for them, you name it. Because they stood behind her.

I had that exact same scenario happen as soon as the manager walked away from me. I grabbed those 2 boxes, and we walked right out of the restaurant. I have never been back to that restaurant again. Oh I forgot. They closed down shortly after that. With very negative reviews

Tip? I would leave a $20 on the table and walk out. If that’s not enough to cover the cost of the food, that’s not my fault. We weren’t being given the bill and so I had to guess😐😐😐 also, that level of rude from management warrants leaving no money. I won’t be coming back so I don’t mind getting banned. I’m done and dashing. Not even dashing. Just slowly walking away because the server won’t even notice until 15 minutes after I leave since they weren’t showing up at any other point of dinner😂😂😂

When the server confronted me over that I would have asked her who she was. Ma'am I've never seen you before. We didnt leave a tip because we were sitting at a self serve table.

you know what I have found that gets them to bring you the check immediately after you’ve been waiting an extended amount of time. Get up and start walking out. because I’m not gonna wait 30 minutes for a check to be brought to me. You either want my money or you don’t.

Sounds like the hostess is the only one who had any common sense in that restaurant. I wouldn't have left a tip either.

Had this happen once. Were somewhere for over 2hrs primarily because our server sucked and had receipts to show time frame. Took her 25 min to bring drink refills but within 30 seconds of leaving zero tipped she had chased us down and into a store where she made a scene. I called the manager and he gave me a $20 GC for our “inconvenience”. Will never dine there again.

In the last three years, every time I go to a dinner with my sister, we are always forgotten. One restaurant we ordered the food, it sat under the heat until it was room temperature. No one delivered it to us. The server, which was not her fault, she had tables for different sections. One of those was on the patio on the other side of the building. The manager should’ve brought her food. Another restaurant, a few months ago, a cute little bus girl came up to ask us for to go boxes and if we were all set. I spoke up. I said we have gotten our food yet. The server didn’t send our order in. Trying to do the ticket got in the printer. Why is the server not noticing? We have no food? I have other situations as well. So now when I do, cause I’ve worked in several restaurants, greasy spoons right up to private country clubs, so I know the timing of a ticket. In my server is ignoring me, or it’s taking too long. I just stand up with my arms folded across my chest. I don’t see anything. I will get response from everybody when I do that.

You should ask for a manager and/or go stand up and find someone that will take your card. And not tip them and leave and never go back

As someone who fully believes in leaving a tip, I wouldn’t have left a tip either. Or done the insult tip of a single penny

I would have walked out without paying. I’ve only done this one other time and it was because we literally asked for a check in the server never came back to give us a check and we waited 45 minutes, including getting up and looking around for the server, and there was no other servers around for some reason so we just left
