If there was never a signed contract, you are not obligated to pay. If they cannot prove that you accepted terms of service, which it sounds like they wouldn’t be able to do, do not pay them. They will probably come at you with aggression during the meeting later in the week but hold firm that you did not agree to anything they did prematurely. Keep any correspondence you have with them, take lots of pictures and don’t give them a cent. They did this to trap you into paying hoping you wouldn’t know better. No contract=no agreement to pay.
