@evelynmiller48: Having your body do things you can’t explain, having pain with no way to stop it, having to explain something is wrong to people when you don’t actually know what is wrong absolutely sucks. It’s draining trying to prove you have a chronic illness. I was EXHAUSTED by the time I was getting my official MS diagnosis because I had fought for one for so long. This hasn’t change though having my diagnosis. I still hope and pray we find things that we can fix/cure with me. Having a disease that’s complex, has no cure and treatment can vary is hard mentally. So for me having literal, visible and measurable proof can help. It can give direction and something to “blame”. If I had it my way, would I want everything to go back to normal and me have no issues at all? Absolutely, however that’s just not the case. This is also a situation where people making quick judgements, passive aggressive remarks and/or hurtful comments are not okay. You don’t know what someone is going through. You don’t know the journey. You don’t know the struggle. #ms #multiplesclerosis #chronicillness #invisibleillness #msawareness

I am still hoping for the answer. Just learned I have a brain aneurysm on top of everything else going on, and still not getting answers.

THIS. I was 14 when my symptoms started. I had weakness, tremors, days where I was so weak my dad had to walk me around since I couldn’t hold my own weight. This lasted about 3 years with no help. I had to quit every team I was on. Eventually some of those more extreme symptoms left. I developed more symptoms having to do with heart rate and shortness of breath and was tested for POTS 2 times. Both times I didn’t meat criteria but they do know it’s some form of dysautonomia which I was officially diagnosed with in April. Now here we are I’m 21 and all those awful symptoms have come back full swing plus some although I am able to walk alone so far this time around. I even lost feeling on the left side of my face and went to the ER and still got no help. I am currently waiting for my referral to neurology to reach out to schedule. 7 years of this and I’m so done. I’m currently on day 38 of a flare up…

I was on disability for my anxiety. A few people called me a hypochondriac. Drs. looked at me like I was crazy when I was trying to explain how I was feeling. So when I finally got the diagnosis that I had MS my panic attacks went away and my anxiety was less because now I had an answer and it all made sense and I knew I wasn’t crazy or a hypochondriac because I’ve felt these things.

In Nov '25 my Opthalmologist said there's a good chance it'll be MS due to my age, and gender.
Fast forward to my (generalized) Neuro who took a look at my brain MR and he said "I really don't see MS. I don't believe it is" then after I answered all his questions/did all his tests, he looked at it again "Everytime you answer the questions, it's less and less likely".
So he referred me to a NeuroMuscular Neuro. She did her tests, and everything (neuromuscular) came out fine. LP and C/Tspine MR were ordered and completed. O-bands are elevated, and no lesions on my spine.
Now I wait for the MS Neuro in 1.5 weeks.

THIS! It was such a relief to finally find out that I have MS, especially after years of doctors playing Whack-a-Mole with my symptoms. And I’m back in that place now, hoping that there are new lesions when I get my next MRI, because then it will validate everything I went through this summer and everything that has followed.

I'm at that point. Spend more days in bed than I don't. The tingling in hand, feet, and face. Pressure around my ribs, but still no diagnosis. Brain MRI is fine. Hoping they do a spinal and find something. I'm tired of feeling this way without answers but I think my doctors tired of trying to figure me out. Lay here crying and over thinking everything.

I totally understand what you are saying. After 13 years I found out I had endometriosis and after 17 years I found out I have MALS. I would cry when they told me my tests were normal and I have had SO many tests, so there have been a lot of tears! The nurse practitioner I go to called me on a Saturday because she couldn’t wait to tell me that I had MALS.

Whenever something comes back negative and I don’t have a reaction. They tell me this is good news, you should be happy. But I’m sat there thinking about the fact that I’m at square one trying to figure out what’s going on in my body.

It took me a year to be diagnosed and the last thing they did was an MRI. Every day that passed I felt crazy! I was hoping something showed up and when it did, I was at peace and ready to battle. I get it and agree 100 percent.

I am 55 years old and have been in pain almost that long. Every doctor visit I had I hoped they could figure out why instead of putting me on the fibromyalgia band wagon. I got my answer this years with HEDS diagnoses but I got more than I bargained for. I also got heart problems this year and liver disease. I am done with finding out what is wrong. I don’t want to know anymore.

I just got my diagnosis last month. I feel so much what you said here. I went from April to September with all these crazy things happening to me. I went to multiple ERs, a neurologist, my primary and walked away with no results and no answers until I went to the ER this last time because I was completely losing my vision and my hearing. I begged for the MRI and he listened. Then like you, I was praying in that MRI machine that they find something, that they find what is wrong with me. Then the relief and excitement when they found those lesions. When he said we are transporting you to a bigger hospital to treat me I was so excited, sounds crazy but I was finally getting answers and feeling like they were finally believing me.

if there is a visible problem its something that can be treated. being stuck in limbo is awful. I have 15+ lesions but am told it doesnt meet the criteria for MS, yet... well that was 3 years ago.. I should probably get that looked at again.

my neuro is sending me to a 2nd neuro for a 2nd opinion because she doesn't want to diagnosis me with ms because my brain mri was atypical.
it all started with optic neuritis in april/may. ive had multiple mris since then- brain, spine, eye. head and chest CTs. spinal tap.
im so ready for answers.
im tired of being tired. ive gained SO much weight because I just CANNOT be active no matter how much people say "just go for a walk" -it's not that easy.

I feel all of this! I’ve been in some intense pain for years. I mean years!!! Mentally exhausted and let’s not talk about the physical exhaustion. They cannot find anything other than it MIGHT be nerve damage. Yet, nothing works. I’m tired. I want them to find something that can be fixed. It does sound crazy to other people but when you’ve done this for this long, u want something found so people can quit treating u like ur crazy! They did find, a tear n my lower disc n my back and arthritis in my tailbone but the amount of pain isn’t explained. Something has to give!
