While the vision of a car-free Oxford Street is understandable, we must look beyond the immediate view. Removing vehicle access without comprehensive alternative planning will inevitably harm our cherished local businesses and displace congestion onto neighbouring streets. Progress should enrich our community, not erode it — and until a truly balanced solution is found, this proposal serves neither our traders nor our commuters well.
