Well, we didn’t exactly say no to fascism. Greece was a fascist country at the time, Metaxas was fascist. Obviously we weren’t the same brand of evil world conquering fascism based on a belief of our racial superiority like the Germans or Italians, but Greece was still fascist. That said though, we did say no to the greatest evil the world has ever seen and we fought it harder than most anyone. Definitely a proud holiday on par with ikostipempti

it totally derailed operation Barbarossa and delayed it by two months but also forced the Nazi German forces to divert significant resources to the Greek front. Also Nazi Germany lost all of their most elite paratroopers in Crete.
