@thescenenm: Freddy the German, who became an internet sensation during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, made a stop in Albuquerque over the weekend, experiencing everything from Lobo football and college basketball to New Mexican food and local hospitality. Freddy, known online as @FreddyLA7, documented his visit across social media, sharing his experiences with followers as he continued his travels across the United States. During his stay, Freddy and his friends attended a Halloween party dressed as Minions, experienced the tailgating atmosphere before Saturday’s UNM football game against North Dakota State, and watched the Lobos secure their sixth win of the season to become bowl eligible. Freddy had particularly high praise for the football atmosphere, saying the experience made him reconsider whether smaller college stadiums might actually be more enjoyable than massive venues holding 80,000 or more fans. “The atmosphere feels more personal and you keep running into the same people over and over again,” he wrote. The group also attended UNM’s preseason basketball matchup against Arizona State at The Pit, marking Freddy’s first college basketball game of the trip. Before leaving Albuquerque, Freddy stopped at the iconic Frontier Restaurant after receiving numerous recommendations from locals. He praised the food and took time to explore the UNM campus. In his farewell post, Freddy thanked Albuquerque residents for their hospitality and complimented the city’s fall weather, mountain scenery and welcoming atmosphere. “Albuquerque really is a cool city and we enjoyed our time here a lot!” he wrote. His Albuquerque adventures attracted hundreds of thousands of views across multiple posts, bringing national and international attention to the Duke City. VIA: @FreddyLA7 / X
