At least this painting is an original and its provenance remains intact. It’s a far cry from what Christie’s did with the *Salvator Mundi*. It was an absolute farce in the art world: everyone knew it wasn’t a work by Leonardo da Vinci; they retouched the painting to make it look presentable for the auction catalog, yet they still sold it as a work by the master. Now, the painting cannot be viewed in public due to its deteriorated state and the lack of a definitive attribution. Still not answers from Christie’s.
