@stephanie_misanik: Testosterone for women made headlines this week: 8x more heart events. Before you panic about your cream or pellets, read the fine print. The study was a poster at The Menopause Society meeting. Not a published paper. It pulled health records for about 3,164 women on testosterone and 3,164 who weren't. Over about 3 years, 3.8% vs 0.5% had a cardiovascular event. Here's what it couldn't tell us. No dose. No form. No product. Records show a prescription was written, not whether it was filled. Women on testosterone may see doctors more, so more gets diagnosed. And women paying cash at outside clinics can land in the "not on testosterone" group. A 2024 study using the same kind of records found the opposite. In 16,783 women on testosterone, the risk of major heart events was 36% lower. Across 36 randomized trials, no serious adverse events were recorded, and non-oral testosterone didn't worsen cholesterol. My take: this is a signal worth a real trial. Not a reason to panic, and not a reason to keep women waiting. If you're on testosterone, ask your clinician: 1. Which form am I on, and what dose? 2. Are we tracking my cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar? 3. Are my levels checked over time, not just once? Don't stop or change anything without talking to your clinician first. Bet most came from pellets with zero ability to regulate the dose or absorption.

Since I started supplemental testosterone with my HRT, for the first time, I don’t have issues with my ferritin levels being low
