@food_of_ct: National Pizza Month will be coming to a close soon, so we wanted to shout out 6 spots we’ve visited this year whose pizza impressed us 🍕 While these spots may not have had their Portnoy moment yet (especially with all the chatter about his visits lately 👀), they’re absolutely worth adding to your pizza bucket list! Connecticut has so many great local pizza spots to explore, and you don’t need to wait for a big review or viral moment to show them some love ❤️ Featured Spots (Not Listed/Shown in Any Ranked Order) ⬇️ • The Beacon Pizza Bar, 81 S. Main Street, Beacon Falls: larges of cheese, pepperoni, and half sausage & mushroom, half breaded eggplant. Super casual spot w/ only pizza currently served on the menu. There is a full bar though! Super thin & light New Haven style. • Nonna’s Pizza, 131 Center Street, Southington: small vodka sauce pie & small half cheese, half pepperoni, plus buffalo wings. Hole-in-the-wall that’s primarily takeout w/ a couple tables. Thin crust & proudly Albanian owned. Credit cards aren’t accepted - cash, Venmo, or Apple Cash only! • @Retro Bar & Char, 313 Main Street, Ansonia: small clams casino, small half pepperoni, half bacon & onion, and small cheese. New Haven thin crust in a retro, neighborhood bar setting. Also ordered the mandarin grove salad. • Sauced at @Kinsmen Brewing, 409 Canal Street in the Milldale section of Southington: ordered a cheese & mashed potato. Only serves 12” and they go down EASY! Pairs well w/ beer 🍻 • Aniello’s Pizza, 346 Hemingway Avenue, East Haven: larges of half sausage, half mushroom and a cheese, plus spaghetti and & meatballs. Family-owned since the ‘80s. New York style & nice selection of Italian dinners. • @one6threepizza, 163 Foster Street, New Haven: adorable spot in the East Rock neighborhood, w/ a few tables inside & a small patio area in the warmer months. The menu has a variety of creative pies & considers themselves “Apizza-ish”. Ordered a cheese, “The Goat” w/ asparagus & onions, honey goat cheese, mozz, a basil aioli & cranberry honey jam, and “The King” w/ peanut butter, bacon, walnuts, and mozz w/ cranberry honey jam, plus poutine.
