Actually - you’re not incorrect about “Collins’s” - but it is ALSO correct to write Collins’ as a singular possessive. It is based on which style guide you follow. AP Style guide says it’s Collins’, while the Chicago Manual of Style and MLA says it’s Collins’s. English does not have an overarching governing body (like French or Spanish do, for example). So there ARE legitimate variances in some of these rules that are appropriate in both forms. You may want to tone down the cockiness a bit before speaking in such absolutes.

Wait, pause, I was always taught that if the word ends in S then you make it possessive by just adding an apostrophe at the end. So it would be the Collins’

what also annoys me is when people place punctuation marks INSIDE the quotation marks 💔💔 like no, if theyre meant for the whole sentence, then they should be OUT oh my lordd

"ya'll" gives me an ick. i don't understand why they would place the apostrophe between the A and L when it's supposed to be "y'all"

One thing tho. If a name ends in s, a singular apostrophe is also grammatically correct. James' for example. It's more used in British English, i was taught to use that. So with names ending in s both ways are correct. Not confusing at all 😭

Not reading is why this happens. When you read, you learn how things are "supposed to look" without realizing it.
