They’ve paid for college, weddings, cars, and even helped purchase homes—often well into their children’s thirties. And what do some of these parents get in return? Disrespect, rejection, and complete estrangement. We’ve raised a generation of adults who, in too many cases, have become privileged, entitled, and completely unappreciative of the parents who gave them so much. Did your parents say something you didn’t like? Hurt your feelings? Fail to be absolutely perfect? Welcome to life. No parent is perfect. Neither are you. Honor your mother and your father. Whether or not you believe in the Bible, the principle of honoring those who loved, raised, and cared for you deserves consideration. And let me be clear: I’m NOT talking about children who experienced genuine abuse or serious mistreatment. I’m talking about adult children who had good, loving parents and now treat them as though they’re disposable. It’s time to grow up. Show some empathy. Take responsibility for your own behavior. And stop punishing loving parents for being imperfect human beings. I wish you could send this message straight to my daughter at the age of 30 years old. She’s ruled the world so she thinks. Doesn’t that her father and all. She’s so toxic but I don’t care about her. Has happened to me! Paid for all but the last year of Pharmacy school. Let her live with me while she paid off the loan. Debt free. Had car, phone and insurance paid. Hasn’t talked to me or her father in 2 months! We used to be so close. I listened, cared and loved her whole life. Now I’ve been dumped and not sure why.
