@artistrandyjeffrey: The Owl, the Woodpecker, and the Bridge That Wasn't Supposed to Exist Nobody remembers who built the bridge. The owl insists it has always been there. The woodpecker insists he built it himself, although he cannot explain how, given that he has no hands and a rather questionable understanding of engineering. The bridge connects two worlds. On one side, everything makes sense. The sun rises, clocks tick, and everyone agrees that a triangle has three sides. On the other side, absolutely nothing behaves as expected. Tuesdays occasionally arrive twice, gravity is considered optional, and the color blue has been known to hold grudges. The owl lives on the sensible side. He considers himself an intellectual, although most of his wisdom consists of staring at things until they become uncomfortable. The woodpecker lives on the other side. He has never finished a single thought in his life, but has started approximately 40,000. Every morning they meet in the middle of the bridge. "You're late," says the owl. "You're imaginary," replies the woodpecker. Neither has ever crossed to the other side. One morning, the bridge disappeared. The owl blamed the woodpecker. The woodpecker blamed the owl. And somewhere between the two worlds, a painter quietly moved a single line. The bridge reappeared. Neither bird noticed that it was now upside down.
