I kept my last name after getting married. My kids will have my last name as their middle name and his as the last name (his family tradition). We use both our names as our email address and any other XY Family titles. My mom didn’t take my dad’s name and they are still married 30+ years later

My dad died before I turned 1. He was an only child, and his parents were murdered when he was 16 before he met my mom, and my parents were never married. When i was born my mom gave me his last name instead of hers. So I am literally the only one from family with my last name. once I knew my full story, I told myself id never change my last name when/if I were to ever marry. other than current politics, there are other reasons why some woman choose to not change their last names.

my husband took my last name and we didn't tell people until the announce our names when we got married. their was an audible gasp in the audience. my husband and I still cackle about it to this day 13 years later 😂😂

Of i would have changed mine i would have had the same name as my SIL first middle and last name. It has already caused issues. My husband actually gave up his last name because of some of the trauma and issues with his own family. He took my last name.

I am for changing your last name or not changing your last name if that’s what you want to do. I think it’s crazy that he automatically assumed she was joking and didn’t take her seriously and then let his mother say that. I’d call off the wedding.
